Meteor Crater Rim Tour
50,000 years ago a fiery giant meteor mass weighing several hundred thousand tons hurtled through space and impacted earth. The Crater’s diameter reaches 4,100 feet (1.2 km) with a depth of 570 feet (173 m). The rim’s height above the surrounding plain is 120-200 ft (36- 61m), with a total volume of 82,000,000 cubic yards (62,700,000 cubic meters). 300-400 million tons of rock were displaced by the impact (272-363 million metric tons). The highest point on the rim is 5,723 feet (1,744m) above sea level. Guided trail tours of the rim are offered. Inquire about weather policies. Appropriate footwear is required. Allow 2-hours minimum. Tours depart daily between 9:15 am to 2:15 pm.

Interactive Learning Center
Visitors will relive the the intensity of this impact. The wide range of exhibits will fascinate and educate every person on the aspects of meteors and their encounters with the earth.

The Meteor Crater gift shop is a clean, modern facility that is staffed by courteous, friendly employees. At this store, one can find quality Meteor Crater souvenirs, and unique gift items. You can also visit the outstanding rock shop.

Meteor Crater Theater
Our movie, “Collisions and Impacts”, shows twice each hour in the state of the art, 80-seat wide screen movie theater. This informative and entertaining 10-minute feature, introduces broad themes displayed throughout the Interactive Learning Center.

Subway® Restaurant
Our Subway sandwich shop (adjacent to the Gift Shop) provides a tasty and nutritious menu. (Group discounts available)

Astronaut Memorial Park
Just outside the Gift Shop and Subway is Astronaut Memorial Park, which provides a clean, pleasant setting to enjoy a Subway sandwich picnic.
